She’s a Successful Business Owner – Career Inspiration

When I first learned the word entrepreneur as a child, I knew that was exactly what I was destined to be.

I came up with many business ideas then, from a coffee shop, websites, a Barbie doll clothing line, and even Kadiskreations Magazine. My mom even made me a nameplate that said ‘CEO.’ Which I will be putting on my desk when I get my first office. I loved brainstorming and being creative, which I carried into my teen years.

I later earned my bachelor’s degree in business administration with the hopes of finally starting my own. But I still had trouble deciding exactly what I wanted to do, so I found inspiration. I discovered so many female entrepreneurs that I look up to in every category, from beauty and fashion to entertainment, such as Emma Grede, Issa Rae, Tracee Ellis Ross, Iman, Amina Muaddi, and many more. This helped me learn that you can literally become a business owner in every category. There’s really no limit.

Other than all the glitz and glam that come with the CEO aesthetic, I love, like wearing suits and being your own boss, I know it still takes a lot of sweat and sometimes tears to fight to be respected as a woman in business. I know that it’s already hard in the corporate world, especially as a woman of color. And even harder as a black woman.

But I will never let the adversity stop me because I know the reward will be so much greater. I’ll be adding myself to that list of entrepreneurs very soon to inspire other young girls who were just like me with the creation of Kadiskreations Magazine.
